POSITION TITLE:
Paraprofessional Assistant / Classroom Assistant

UNIT / ORGANIZATION: Anova Center for Education (ACE) School Programs

REPORTS TO: Teacher

PURPOSE OF POSITION:This position is primarily responsible for the direct implementation of behavioral and instructional methodologies to address student IEP goals at the Anova Center for Education (ACE) School. This individual provides direct training and supervision of assigned students under the direction of the classroom teacher, ensuring a positive and reinforcing teaching environment and compliance with Anova policies and procedures and other appropriate regulations and standards. While Anova strives to provide a consistent work schedule for each of its employees, this position’s daily and weekly hours may be altered with short notice at the discretion of management in order to meet the needs of the agency as a whole.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: A Bachelor's Degree in a related field with some Behavior Management training/experience. (Two additional years experience in a behavior management setting may be substituted for degree).

POSITION TITLE:

UNIT / ORGANIZATION: Anova Education & Behavior Consultation’s Non-Public Agency (NPA) Programs.

REPORTS TO: Behavior Analyst

PURPOSE OF POSITION:This position is primarily responsible for the direct implementation of behavioral and instructional methodologies to address student IEP goals primarily in public school settings. This position is not hired to work exclusively with one student but acts as an agency resource for all Anova students. While Anova strives to provide a consistent work schedule for each of its employees, this position’s daily and weekly hours may be altered with short notice at the discretion of management in order to meet the needs of the agency as a whole. This individual provides direct training and supervision of their assigned student(s) under the direction of an Anova Behavior Analyst with support from the classroom teacher and other support staff, ensuring a positive and reinforcing academic experience and compliance with Anova policies and procedures and other appropriate regulations and standards. Some students served by Anova require special training, skills and/or abilities. Depending on the particular student assignment this position may require:
  • Working outside providing community based instruction in the school’s neighborhood;

  • Drive to various county school sites when assigned a substitute case.
  • Provide student supervision, instruction and care for assigned substitute case.
  • Implements procedures delineated in student’s substitute orientation information.

  • Assist Teacher in preparing resources for instruction, as assigned.

POSITION TITLE: Speech and Language Pathologist

UNIT / ORGANIZATION: Anova Center for Education (ACE) School Programs

REPORTS TO: School Director

PURPOSE OF POSITION:This position is primarily responsible for program development, planning, implementing and evaluating the Speech and Language component of instruction for their assigned students as well as acting as a professional resource for parents, teachers and instructional staff. This position assumes responsibility for the design and implementation of Speech and Language related IEP goals and objectives. This position will provide classroom consultation and staff training as necessary, offering guidance to classroom staff, ensuring a positive and reinforcing teaching environment and compliance with Anova policies and procedures as well as other appropriate regulations and standards. In addition to these responsibilities provided during school hours, this position supervises and offers individual Speech and Language services and social & interpersonal skills training groups and / or guidance on an outpatient basis. This position may be responsible for providing consultation and / or training to all Anova staff upon request.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work with and consult with teaching staff. Ability to communicate effectively with students, teaching staff, administrative staff, families, and integral professionals / agencies. Responsible for the Speech and Language programs for each student assigned including planning, organization and implementation of curriculum.   • Assure quality, and update content, of speech and language component of Anova Center for Education (ACE) staff orientation material.
RESPONSIBILITY AREA: Administrative

Specific Duties:
  • Provide constructive input into the development and/or revision of Anova Education & Behavior Consultation Policies and Procedures.
  • Provide clear and accurate case list information to the Anova Management Team on a monthly basis.
  • Provide clear and accurate billing information meeting agency timelines.
  • On a monthly basis submit all assessments and progress reports on disk for inclusion in the Anova Master File.

  • Complete activities as required by the California Department of Education pursuant to maintaining certification as a Non-Public school (NPS).
  • Serve on the Student’s Rights Committee, as assigned.
  • Sit on Anova Board committee / task force at request of Anova Management Team / Board of Directors.
RESPONSIBILITY AREA: IEP Development, Implementation and Oversight

Specific Duties:
  • Complete appropriate assessments for individual students as indicated, within 30 days of admission to the program.
  • Design appropriate IEP goals and objectives for each student based on the relevant assessment information.
  • Develop corresponding treatment plans for all assigned students.
  • Produce all required reports within the appropriate timelines, this shall include but not be limited to, progress reports, assessment summaries and treatment plans.
  • Effectively present IEP goals and objectives at scheduled IEP meetings, team meetings, etc.
  • Implement IEP goals as written.
  • Provide direct consultative services to students according to IEP.
  • Collect all necessary data regarding progress with IEP goals and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain effective communication and follow-through with Teachers and classroom staff regarding targeted Speech and Language goals and methodologies.
  • Provide observation / supervision and feedback of Speech and Language methodology implementation, including for staff who require focused supervision regarding Speech and Language implementation.
  • Comply with all State and Federal laws applicable to the delivery of the professional services rendered by a Non-Public school.
  • Research alternate methods / materials which may be useful to the program and present suggestions and justification to the School Director / Anova Management Team for consideration.
RESPONSIBILITY AREA: Curriculum Development and Revision

Specific duties:
  • Develop and / or acquire appropriate curriculum materials to implement the IEP goals for each student.
  • Conduct planning activities to ensure program effectiveness and ongoing curricular improvements utilizing new and innovative curricular strategies, including: the review of available materials and literature, research through the internet, site visits to other programs, and attendance at pertinent and approved professional organization meetings and presentations.
  • Act as school-wide resource developer for Speech and Language methodologies and materials including review of available materials / literature, site visits to other programs, and attendance at approved presentations.
  • Have complete knowledge of California State Standards for education as it applies to assigned students, and assure that curriculum design and content is compatible with these standards.
  • Comply with all State and Federal Laws applicable to the delivery of the professional services rendered by a Non-Public school.
RESPONSIBILITY AREA: Social and Interpersonal Skills Groups

Specific duties:
  • Design and implement group activities to address social and interpersonal strengths and needs.
  • Obtain appropriate parental consent prior to implementation of activities.
  • Conduct staff training regarding social & interpersonal skills training group activities.
  • Complete an assessment and maintain progress notes on each Social and Interpersonal Skills Group participant.
OTHER:

POSITION TITLE: Behavior Analyst

UNIT / ORGANIZATION: Anova Education & Behavior Consultation Non-Public Agency (NPA) Programs

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

PURPOSE OF POSITION: This position is primarily responsible for assessment, design and supervision of the implementation of intervention plans and skills training methodologies for all students assigned. This individual oversees the implementation of behavioral programs and monitors IEP goals addressing targeted behaviors. This position provides classroom consultation and staff training as necessary, offering guidance to Anova staff and others, ensuring a positive and reinforcing teaching environment and compliance with Anova policies and procedures as well as other appropriate regulations and standards. This position collaborates with members of the IEP / ID Team to assist in the implementation of behavioral recommendations.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to monitor and evaluate staff and student performance. Ability to communicate behavioral concepts effectively with staff, student families, and other professionals / agencies. Responsible for the development and oversight of effective and least restrictive behavioral program for each student assigned. Ability to conceptualize and write clear and concise behavioral assessments and supporting documents presentable for related agencies, staff and Anova administration. Promote cooperation and a feeling of teamwork among staff. Ability to listen to the concerns, suggestions, and complaints of students served and/or employees supervised. RESPONSIBILITY AREA: Staff Management

Specific Duties:
  • Provide supervision, feedback, and direction to staff directly supervised, ensuring that job expectations are stated clearly and met.
  • Assume responsibility for hiring, training and performance evaluations for all staff positions directly supervised. Develop and monitor individual professional goals for all staff directly supervised as part of performance evaluation process.
  • Work cooperatively with the Anova Substitute Coordinator position, providing clear communication regarding staffing needs and assuring that Anova policies regarding substitute use and paid time off is strictly adhered to.
RESPONSIBILITY AREA: Staff Training

Specific Duties:
  • Provide supervision, instruction, and feedback for assigned staff.
  • Conduct / arrange in-service training each month for subordinate staff.
  • Attend designated meetings and act as resource to address behavioral and skill acquisition questions / concerns.
  • Assure quality, and update content, of behavioral component of Anova Education & Behavior Consultation staff training, orientation and in-service material, as assigned.
  • Regularly attend clinical staff meetings provided as support for Behavior Analysts.
RESPONSIBILITY AREA: Development and Oversight of Behavioral Programs

Specific Duties:
  • Act as a resource for staff concerning methods and materials most effective in achievement of student behavioral goals.
  • Develop or supervise the development of materials required for the implementation of behavioral recommendations.
  • Develop interim behavior plans, when indicated, while a more extensive behavior plan can be developed.
  • Complete functional analyses and positive behavior intervention plans / behavior assessments for individual students as indicated, within 50 days of referral to agency or within required timelines.
  • Develop appropriate IEP goals and objectives addressing targeted behaviors for each student.
  • Effectively present functional analyses and positive behavior intervention plans at scheduled IEP meetings, team meetings, etc.
  • Develop / implement data forms and reporting documentation to assure accurate reporting of student progress.
  • Report on progress to goals according to established timelines.
  • Make recommendations for on-going modification of student behavior plans.
  • Provide observation / supervision and feedback of behavioral program implementation, including for staff who require focused supervision regarding behavioral methodology.
  • Monitor effectiveness of reinforcement strategies and modify as indicated.
  • Develop / monitor systems to assure least restrictive strategies are employed with all students assigned.
  • Maintain effective communication and follow-through with Teachers and classroom staff regarding targeted problem behaviors.
  • Have complete knowledge of SELPA guidelines as they apply to assigned students, and assure that behavioral programs and content are compatible with these guidelines.
  • Comply with all State and Federal laws applicable to the delivery of the professional services rendered by a Non-Public agency (NPA).
  • Research alternate methods / materials which may be useful to Anova Education & Behavior Consultation and present suggestions and justification to Executive Director / Anova Management Team for consideration.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work with and supervise subordinate staff. Ability to communicate effectively with students, subordinate staff, administrative staff, families, and integral professionals / agencies. Responsible for the educational programs for each student in assigned classroom including planning, organization and implementation of curriculum. Ability to monitor and evaluate staff and student performance. Ability to write clear and concise IEPs and supporting reports presentable for related agencies, staff and Anova administration. In addition to these responsibilities provided during school hours, this position supervises and offers individual Occupational Therapy services and social & interpersonal skills training groups and / or guidance on an outpatient basis. This position may be responsible for providing consultation and / or training to all Anova staff upon request.

Specific Duties:
  • When assigned, conduct school-wide in-service training for all staff implementing Occupational Therapy programs.
  • Attend classroom team meetings and act as resource to address behavioral and skill acquisition questions / concerns.
  • Assure quality, and update content, of Occupational Therapy component of Anova Center for Education (ACE) staff orientation material.
RESPONSIBILITY AREA: Administrative

Specific Duties:
  • Provide constructive input into the development and/or revision of Anova Education & Behavior Consultation Policies and Procedures.
  • Provide clear and accurate case list information to the Anova Management Team on a monthly basis.
  • Provide clear and accurate billing information meeting agency timelines.
  • On a monthly basis submit all assessments and progress reports on disk for inclusion in the Anova Master File.
  • Provide constructive input into staff orientation procedures.
  • Complete activities as required by the California Department of Education pursuant to maintaining certification as a Non-Public school (NPS).
  • Serve on the Student’s Rights Committee, as assigned.
  • Sit on Anova Board committee / task force at request of Anova Management Team / Board of Directors.
RESPONSIBILITY AREA: IEP Development, Implementation and Oversight

Specific Duties:
  • Complete appropriate assessments for individual students as indicated, within 30 days of admission to the program.
  • Design appropriate IEP goals and objectives for each student based on the relevant assessment information.
  • Develop corresponding treatment plans for all assigned students.
  • Produce all required reports within the appropriate timelines, this shall include but not be limited to, progress reports, assessment summaries and treatment plans.
  • Effectively present IEP goals and objectives at scheduled IEP meetings, team meetings, etc.
  • Implement IEP goals as written.
  • Provide direct consultative services to students according to IEP.
  • Collect all necessary data regarding progress with IEP goals and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain effective communication and follow-through with Teachers and classroom staff regarding targeted Occupational Therapy goals and methodologies.
  • Provide observation / supervision and feedback of Occupational Therapy methodology implementation, including for staff who require focused supervision regarding Occupational Therapy implementation.
  • Comply with all State and Federal laws applicable to the delivery of the professional services rendered by a Non-Public school.
  • Research alternate methods / materials which may be useful to the program and present suggestions and justification to the School Director / Anova Management Team for consideration.
RESPONSIBILITY AREA: Curriculum Development and Revision

Specific duties:
  • Develop and / or acquire appropriate curriculum materials to implement the IEP goals for each student.
  • Conduct planning activities to ensure program effectiveness and ongoing curricular improvements utilizing new and innovative curricular strategies, including: the review of available materials and literature, research through the internet, site visits to other programs, and attendance at pertinent and approved professional organization meetings and presentations.
  • Act as school-wide resource developer for Occupational Therapy methodologies and materials including review of available materials / literature, site visits to other programs, and attendance at approved presentations.
  • Have complete knowledge of California State Standards for education as it applies to assigned students, and assure that curriculum design and content is compatible with these standards.
  • Comply with all State and Federal Laws applicable to the delivery of the professional services rendered by a Non-Public school.
RESPONSIBILITY AREA: Social and Interpersonal Skills Groups

Specific duties:
  • Design and implement group activities to address social and interpersonal strengths and needs.
  • Obtain appropriate parental consent prior to implementation of activities.
  • Conduct staff training regarding social & interpersonal skills training group activities.
  • Complete an assessment and maintain progress notes on each Social and Interpersonal Skills Group participant.
OTHER:
  • Complete other duties and assignments at the discretion of the Anova Management Team and under the direct supervision of the School Director.
  • Conduct tours of facility / programs when requested.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Current California Licensure as a Occupational Therapist.

Experience: At least five years of experience working with developmentally disabled and / or emotionally disturbed students in an environment utilizing an Applied Behavior Analysis approach is required.
