Peter grew up in Southern California and, after attending the University of San Diego and Art Center College of Design, embarked on a career in Transportation Design. After eight years, he changed course and became a freelance illustrator. A friend suggested that working as a paraeducator would be a good way to obtain benefits and leave enough time free for illustration. After moving to Northern California, he answered an ad for paraeducators placed by a company called Anova. That initial position as a 1:1 assistant led to working at ACE Santa Rosa and eventually a teaching position after receiving his special education credential from Sonoma State University. After several years in Santa Rosa as a high school teacher, he moved to Seattle to be closer to family and worked as an adult transition teacher and a middle school special education teacher. Fortune favored him as when he decided to move back to California, Anova was looking for a high school special education teacher for their new school in Concord. Peter began his second year at ACE Contra Costa in the Fall of 2014.
