Family & Community Support Services
The State of California recognizes the importance of a healthy family and of providing for professional and effective in-home behavioral support. Anova is vendorized by the California Department of Social Services as a provider of behavioral services to families within the California Regional Center system.
Individuals and families receiving our home-based behavior consultation services include those with conditions such as mental challenges, Down Syndrome, cerebral palsy, brain injuries, and autism. In order to be effective for the developmentally disabled population, services to families incorporate a variety of components to meet the considerable needs of these individuals. Their primary focus is on reducing problem behaviors to improve the child's independence in skills that provide for the expression of choice, communication, and daily living-skill development. Anova offers services such as these, as well as small group instruction to parents, residential care homes, program staff, and community groups.
Individuals and families may access Anova's Behavior Analysts and Paraprofessional Support services on a private pay basis. Anova also provides in-home and community based support and day care services to families. Complete assessments with interventions for addressing problem behaviors are developed with the needs of the entire family in mind. Once the written intervention plan has been developed, Anova Behavior Analysts work with families to translate that plan into an understandable and manageable course of action. Anova Behavior Analysts have provided consultation in family homes and residential facilities to hundreds of parents and care providers throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, with behavioral recommendations explained in detail and modeled to assure that the parent or care provider has a full understanding and can demonstrate the newly acquired knowledge. As the family demonstrates success and becomes fluent in the specific behavioral techniques, Behavior Analysts systematically reduce the family's need for continued intensive support.
